I was reading a Search Engine Land post about Google’s Search Market share (67%) and their Mobile Search Market Share (83%) in August. After reading the article, it made me wonder, what are Bing and Yahoo! doing for mobile search apps?
I used the Google search app all the time. It is on the home screen of my iPhone. I don’t even try to use Apple or Siri. The Google payoff is higher.
So I went searching through the App Store to see what our friends offered. I did a search for the Brand Name.
The first one I went looking for was Yahoo! They have 10% of the mobile market, so I assumed they would have a dedicated search application for users. Well, I would be wrong. When I searched for Yahoo! I got email application app, content aggregation app and messenger app. To be fair, the second image below is for a search app. However, I have to wait for content to load and click a confusing ‘search’ icon to start my search.
It wasn’t the ‘pure’ search feature offered by Google and Bing. I want to click in a search box and go. Not click on an icon, then click on a box.
