Tuning in a Local Music Festival
In 2008, a group of New Orleans musicians decided to host a music festival after they were not able to get into either weekend of New Orleans Jazz Festival. Truly an underground effort, I worked on a website and an external linking strategy that would help their festival be found for people looking for local events during Jazz Fest Week.
Since the first year, the volume of traffic has grown over 500%, with a 22% increase for 2012 in comparison to 2011. Part of the strategy for each year was to increase inbound traffic and awareness. In 2010, a social media presence was established for Twitter, Facebook and Foursquare.
In the past year, referring traffic from the selected social networking outlets has increased by 67% for 2012. This referring traffic has also shown a 14% increase in ticket sales from this channel.
